It has been almost a year since posting the Vanity Fair carnival for the Raging RINOs, but I am especially proud to represent the group today. Thousands of bloggers will post their thoughts, sorrows, vengeance, and hopes upon the five-year anniversary of the September 11th tragedies. This Raging RINOs tribute is a bit different, as the group is composed both of Republicans and Independents Not Overdosed (on the Party Kool Aid). As such, we are do not follow our leaders blindly. If we follow, it is only after careful and deliberated thought. Any discussions of our party-opponents will dissect their logical fallacies concerning the September 11th conspiracy theories. We do not oppose those who oppose us merely because they do so, but rather, by pointing out why their arguments are based on false logic. “I’ve been doing a lot of thinking recently about why Americans are believing so many conspiracy theories being spouted by loons in the world about 9/11. I’ve been trying to figure out why so many people don’t seem to think that Saddam was really that bad of a guy, and we could have just left him to his own devices. I’ve been trying to figure out why so many people have forgotten so much of what has happened. The simple truth of the matter is that people have forgotten, because they can. There is nothing that they see around them, or things that must be done every day that crystallizes this war in their minds. There is no sacrifice asked of anyone, and so the the shouts of the importance of this war simply ring hollow in their ears.”

Don Surber also has some wise words for those who have forgotten why we are still at war:

“Dictators often do more mental harm than physical. Iraqis need time to recover. We will prevail, of course, but it will take the rest of my lifetime, absent a full national mobilization. While Donald Rumsfeld pointed to World War II last week, this struggle is more like the Cold War.”

I disagree with Joe Lieberman on most of the votes he casts and almost all of the positions he supports. But I have always voted for Joe regardless of my party affiliation. And I support him this time around for two important reasons: his unyielding integrity and his ardent support for this country’s efforts to fight the Islamofascist threat that we now face.
