On March 11th, the latest adaptation of Jane Eyre, starring Mia Wasikowska (Alice in Wonderland) as the titular heroine and Micheal Fassbender (Inglourious Basterds; Fish Tank; Hunger; my pants) as Edward Rochester, will hit the celluloid screen on this side of the pond. If you live in the UK, you’ll have to wait until September 9th, which seems rather backwards, doesn’t it?
Anyway, I can’t wait too much longer for this movie to arrive. Yet while this version is expected to be largely faithful to Charlote Brontë’s text, it must be noted that Fassbender is much more handsome than his literary counterpart. However, I don’t mind this little discrepancy in the slightest, and I suspect that fellow female Victorian lit junkies will feel quite the same.
