Forget about Seth Rogen and Katherine Heigl’s beer-goggled screwing in Knocked Up because, with all due respect, the geekboy wish-fulfillment of Judd Apatow films ain’t got nothing on the unholy coupling of Sarah Jessica Parker and Hugh Grant in their upcoming romantic comedy, which presents itself with the following oh-so-captivating synopsis:
The comedy Did You Hear About the Morgans? follows a highly successful Manhattan couple, Meryl and Paul Morgan. whose almost-perfect lives have only one notable failure – their dissolving marriage. But the turmoil of their romantic lives is nothing compared to what they are about to experience: they witness a murder and become targets of a contract killer. The Feds, protecting their witnesses, whisk away the Morgans from their beloved New York to a tiny town in Wyoming, and a relationship that was on the rocks threatens to end completely in the Rockies… unless, in their new BlackBerry-free lives, the Morgans can slow down the pace and rekindle the passion.
Seriously, I dig Hugh Grant and always have, mostly for the irresistable cad he played in Bridget Jones’ Diary (“You appear to be missing your skirt… Is skirt off sick?”) but also despite the bulk of his film career, which has been utterly wasted on unimaginative and clichéd romcoms. Hell, Hugh even managed to appear dashing while getting busted with a prostitute during that entire Divine Brown fiasco. Lately, however, the bloke seems to have lost much of his sheepish appeal, not only by randomly tossing baked beans (dude, wtf?) at photogs but also by bitching all too much about how he detests the acting profession. Such an empty life, eh?
As for Sarah Jessica Parker, well, don’t even get me started on how her production capabilities have reduced Sex and the City franchise from a rather sharp social satire into an exclusively commercially-driven piece of crap filled with childishly stupid female characters who bitch about their 99% immactulate lives but, fuck, can’t men stop leaving skid marks in their underwear? Ladies, that shtick has long since lost its appeal, which will be much more evident with the franchise’s next feature film that certainly won’t reap the rewards of its once highly loyal audience, who didn’t much enjoy that ass-fucking of an initial feature film.
Still, my opinions concerning these two thespians don’t really matter here. What is actually relevant to this film’s success is this: Do people want to see Hugh Grant and Sarah Jessica Parker get it on? Survey says… hell, no.

He was great in Lair of the White Worm.
[...] A romantic comedy featuring the world’s least likely couple [Agent Bedhead] [...]
Hugh’s greatest work, and one of my most favorite films ever, is the brilliant About a Boy.
Can watch it over and over…..
I can’t resist Hugh Grant, and I do try. Loved ‘About a Boy’ and that movie he did with Julie roberts (althugh I am not a fan of Roberts).
As for SJP, I adore her. She is quirky and kind and charming.
