Well, lookie here. Rose McGowan has ended her engagement to Robert “Rebel Without A Crew” Rodriguez. No reasons have yet to be revealed for this inevitably “amicable split,” but I think we all know why or, at the very least, can take an educated guess. Here’s the relationship postmortem, according to Radar Online, who broke news of the split:
The couple officially announced their engagement in October 2007 after becoming romantically involved in 2006 on the set of the Planet Terror segment of Grindhouse, which was directed by Rodriguez and starred McGowan as a stripper with a machine-gun leg.
It was widely speculated at the time that their relationship was the reason Rodriguez divorced his wife of 16 years, producer Elizabeth Avellán. The director later issued a statement saying that he and Avellán had separated long before production began on the film.
McGowan, 36, and Rodriguez, 41, went public with their relationship in May 2007 when they arrived hand-in-hand at the Cannes Film Festival. They have been together ever since, despite false rumors that they had split up last year after financing for a Rodriguez-planned Barbarella remake starring McGowan fell through.
This can only be good news for fans of Rodriguez, for he’ll no longer be distracted by a fiancé who mostly dug him for the career opportunities. Since Rose isn’t exactly rolling in the job offers, she’ll probably get herself right back onto the sugar daddy scene. Maybe she’ll even hook back up with Marilyn Manson, since he’s currently single, and, eventually, he’ll have to film some crappy new music video, within which Rose could star. Actually, there’s no telling if Rose still has any feelings at all for the new Boy George, but those eye-daggers flung towards Evan Rachel Wood didn’t just happen for the hell of it. Besides, Manson just recovered from the Swine Flu, and I’m not sure how that’s a plus, but whatever. Just trying to, you know, help out a sistah.

Ummm, isn’t Rose a tad…old for Manson? well, at least compared to ERW.
