As SNL’s newest featured player and legacy, Abby Elliot has certainly cornered the Angelina Jolie-impression market, but audiences haven’t yet seen enough of Abby to see how her comedic style compares to her famous father. On that very topic, Abby reveals to Vanity Fair that Chris Elliot was a bit of an embarrassing dad at times:

I remember he would pick me up from high school during my freshman and sophomore years when I couldn’t drive because I’d failed my driver’s test. He’d stand outside the school and hold up a huge handwritten sign that said “ABBY ELLIOTT” in big block letters. I was just mortified by that.

Oh, the shame. Abby also discusses her most well-received SNL role thus far, as the baby-obsessed Angelina:

Do you skim the tabloids, hoping Angelina’s in the news again? If she stabs Brad with a salad fork, you’re guaranteed a meaty scene on SNL.

I feel like Angelina and Brad are always in the news. It seems like they’re on the cover of US Weekly at least once a month, just because they’re still alive and walking around. It doesn’t even matter if they’re doing anything newsworthy. They might just be taking a family trip to New Orleans, it’ll still be the cover story.

It doesn’t hurt that Jolie’s batshit crazy.

Well, yeah, that helps.

She kidnaps babies, y’know.

Yeah, I read that. She does kidnap babies. She definitely does that.

At least that’s what it says in the tabloids.
