& Carlito “Charlie” Brigante in Carlito’s Way
In celebration of Al Pacino, who is a damn good reason for a party, Rome has announced that it will bestow a lifetime achievement award upon the actor at the Rome Film Festival:
Rome’s Bulgari-designed Marcus Aurelius statuette is being given to Pacino as part of the fest’s ongoing tribute to New York’s Actor’s Studio, which was formative to the South Bronx-born thesp, and of which Pacino is a board member.
“Thank you for bestowing your Marcus Aurelius acting award on me,” Pacino said in a statement. “It is a further indication of the homage to the work of the Actor’s Studio and I am very honored to receive it.”
Pacino, who is scheduled to hold an onstage conversation about his work, will also be feted by Rome with screenings of films he directed, including “Looking for Richard” and “Chinese Coffee.”
This shall be the 3rd Rome Film Festival, but Pacino has plenty of time (until October 22nd) to polish up his acceptance speech. If he needs any help with this or any other matters, well, let’s just say that he knows where to look.
