I know: not exactly news, but now it’s official. Amy’s career might not be proceeding according to plan (unless that plan was developed by someone who absolutely despises Amy Winehouse), but at least she’s giving a boost to the careers of others. At the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, a joke about Amy’s taste for totally un-fun varieties of self-abuse got Zoe Lyons the award for funniest joke. The joke? “I can’t believe Amy Winehouse self-harms. She’s so irritating she must be able to find someone to do it for her.” Almost as good was her comment upon receiving the award:

I know self-harming is not funny, but it’s just a joke so I’m not going to beat myself up about it.”

Second place went to Andrew Laurence for the line: “Most of us have a skeleton in the cupboard. David Beckham takes his out in public.” Poor Victoria. Placing second to Amy Winehouse? That’s really got to sting.
