It’s only 5:30 Eastern time, which means polls are still open everywhere in the US, so those who haven’t voted can still take the time to do so. (Unless you’re in Guam, in which case–you missed your chance, nonvoter!) And Carrie Underwood has an important message for all those voting today. As a public service, she won’t tell you who to vote for:
There is someone I do support, but I don’t support publicly,” she says in next week’s TV Guide magazine. “I lose all respect for celebrities when they back a candidate… It’s saying that the American public isn’t smart enough to make their own decisions,” she explains. “I would never want anybody to vote for anything or anybody just because I told them to.”
After listening to the political bloviations of a whole galaxy full of stars (not naming any names, but I’m looking in your general direction, Spiccoli), that is unspeakably refreshing. So, yeah: Get out there and vote, using your own best judgment. Me, I’ve already voted, but I might have to pick up a Carrie Underwood CD on the way home out of sheer gratitude. Not that I’ll listen to it, of course. That’s just crazy talk.

She’s gotta be for McCain. It’s obvious.
She’s just being pretentious. Celebrities’ opinions aren’t worth more than my neighbor’s opinions so they certainly do not affect my decisions and they can say whatever the hell they want to. If I can voice my opinion and say I support Obama, then Britney Spears can voice her opinion and support whoever she wants to support.
Carrie comes off as a snobby bitch, now Steve Carell actually said something very similar and sounded humble instead of pretentious:
“I’ll be voting for Ron Paul, come hell or high water. [Laughs.] Not really. I stay clear of declaring my political choices. I feel like my voice is no more valuable, no less valuable than anyone else’s.”

I am not so sure I would base my vote on what any celeb had to say… and in a way, the overall involvement in this election is part of what got so many people out to vote.
I do respect her for standing up for what she believes in
