Sonny Bono is generally remembered as the less talented member of a modestly talented duo who went on to have a reasonably successful political career and died in a skiing accident when a tree stubbornly refused to get out of his way. Not so, says retired FBI agent Ted Gunderson:
“It’s nonsense for anyone to now try to suggest that Bono died after crashing into a tree. There’s zero evidence in this autopsy report… to show such an accident happened. Instead, there’s powerful proof he was assassinated. This was an evil plot that was carried out to almost perfection by ruthless assassins,” Mr Gunderson told the paper.
The former agent, who has been researching Bono’s accident for the past decade, said top officials linked to an international drug and weapons ring feared the singer-turned-politician was about to expose their crimes - so they had him killed on the slopes.
Clearly, a man who has been investigating the death of Sonny Bono for the past decade has the facts here, not to mention a kickin’ social life. However, before you put too much faith in Gunderson’s claims, you might want to look into some of his other theories (scroll down just a bit). Personally, I suspect Gunderson has tagged the wrong villains in this case. A careful reading of The Sonny and Cher Songbook makes it obvious that the culprits were a gang of gypsies, tramps and thieves.

I think he was assassinated… by the tree!!
According to Gunderson, the tree was set up as a fall guy by the ruthless assassins. Although I hear there are photos that show the tree on a nearby
grassysnow-covered knoll shortly before the incident. You better be careful making jokes about these guys. Anyone who can beat someone to death with a tree and make it look like an accident, that’s not somebody you want mad at you.
I wish “retired” former agent Gunderson luck with the proper adjustment of his medications.
