Since moving over to MuNu land, finally I decided to ignore the TTLB Ecosystem stats, for a few reasons. The first reason is that the MySQL system that ol’ NZ Bear uses is Apache-related, which essentially being open-source software, it’s something that requires constant debugging. The poor guy essentially does this service all for free, but the bugginess was starting to drive me nutty. The second rationale is that if a blog isn’t registered with the TTLB Ecosystem, their links don’t show up on your ‘details’ page. The third source of inspiration came from my blogfather, who decided a bit ago that the Ecosystem’s rating methods are screwy. He is correct when he says that links don’t matter so much as the quality and quantity of your readership.
Anyhoo, I have been relying exclusively on Technorati to sum up daily linkage. Unfortunately, over the past few days, something has been amiss. Apparently, they are now aware of the problem and looking into its source. So if any of you were wondering the same thing…there ya go.

I was wondering about that. Vworld ignored for 3 days? Well, could happen I suppose. In a kindler, gentler world.
Well, I don’t know about those “other” measures. I consider it a job well done when the likes of Miss Sadie and a few others stop by for a read…
Don’t get hung up on stats missy, it is content that is important
There are people who have lower traffic than me, but who have achieved large mammal status in the ecosystem. The ecosystem praises link whores and long, long blogrolls and eschews content in the process.
I can’t knock NZ Bear for trying to quantify the whole process. That’s not something I’d ever want to contemplate doing, but still… there are a lot of good blogs that are stuck in the hinterlands simply because they don’t link whore. If the ecosystem is to be the objective judge of just who is who, well, you’d think there would be less credence given to things that can easily be manipulated. If I wanted large mammal/playful primate status, I could up my blogroll by about a thousand and I’d get there, eventually, just because other bloggers reciprocate permalinks. Is that a good yard stick? I don’t think so.
It’s just too damn bad that Technorati can’t seem to get their shit together.
I noticed the ecosystem thing glorifies link whores too, so I didn’t join.
