The exceedingly eccentric John Malkovich tends to specialize in the unexpected, and he’s continued the trend by releasing a new fashion collection, “Technobohemian,” a casual clothing line that previewed during Milan Menswear Fashion Week:
The 55-year-old explains on the party invites: “Technobohemian is a phrase I read in a yet unpublished Italian novel – I lift it with the author’s permission and I will endeavour to use it well!”
This is the second men’s clothing line John has launched – in 2002, the Oscar-nominated actor debuted his Uncle Kimono line.
Since my working knowledge of fashion is, well, jack shit, I hesitate to make formal judgment based only upon the below photos. The clothes do look quite spiffy, however, and NYMag thinks that “[t]his could be the beginning of something beautiful or terrifying. Both, ideally.”
As a side note, every time I speak to my father (which was actually two days ago) lately, an odd tangential conversation occurs: He brings up the Malkovich Esquire shoutout and asks whether we’ve “heard anything else.” At that point, I generally say that we’re not gonna pester the fellow because we’re not “Malkovich stalkers.” Then, he follows up with, “I’m more worried about the other way around,” before I laugh hysterically (at his paranoia) and he continues to his eventual point that Malkovich discovered Dr. Dre. (That’s not really what happened. Dre’s N.W.A. tenure provided him with the street cred necessary to pursue his highly successful solo career. However, Malkovich has long been a big fan of Dr. Dre, which is a pretty damn cool little factoid.)
Right. Now that I’m finished rambling, check out Technoboheman by John Malkovich:
