Sometimes you’re less likely to feel grateful for the blessings in your own life than for the misfortunes of others that you don’t share. I tried to get into this spirit by watching an old YouTube clip of Chandler’s Worst Thanksgiving. But after a couple of minutes I realized I was thankful that Friends had been cancelled, because in retrospect it was sort of an idiotic show.

Double Viking has a list of the 10 Worst Thanksgiving Dishes that probably won’t be served at your holiday feast, and you can be thankful for that. It takes a special sensibility for someone to serve their guests Turd Cookies or Kitty Litter Cake, and most of us don’t know anyone quite that special. The Best and Worst of Thanksgiving Food is a more useful list, if only because you’re likely to find most of the dishes on your plate at this time of year. Most of them will be on my plate tomorrow, anyway. I plan to visit my extended family, stuff myself like a pig, and clear out before any of the kickoffs.
