I do hereby renounce all my bitterness concerning Billy Corgan and all associated Pumpkinness. Obviously, I’ve articulated a few, uh, rather rude sentiments about him and also voiced a fair amount of Pumpkins disillusionment. Admittedly, I’ve not been impressed with his need to reignite the whole “rock star” persona.

Yet these remarks by Corgan during a Smashing Pumpkins set (at an English music festival in Reading) are rather hysterical in their bluntness:

Halfway through the band’s set, he caught sight of a woman in a skimpy outfit - to which he said, “There’s something about a girl who’s willing to take her top off so quickly.”

He told the crowd, “American girls are sluts too.

“See - isn’t it great to be alternative - you can say all those things.”

Obviously, Corgan is keeping with the “Zeitgeist” theme of celebrity whoredom and rock groupies who will fuck anyone with a guitar. This girl’s reaction must have been priceless. Corgan has hereby become quasi-cool again, and he shall remain as such . . . just as long as we don’t see him sucking face with Courtney Love again.
