Ha. I wasn’t insisting that Corgan consult anyone, but he’s been running his mouth about how the fans don’t buy music like they used to and how much he resents being treated as a “sell-out.” Perhaps explaining stuff in a blog post would prevent him from being so bothered about this because fans are, as a rule, generally understanding if they’re already predisposed to enjoy an artist’s work.

I also find it amusing that you think I’m really against the notion of him making a buck on his old work. That’s not what I’m saying at all – rather, he has spent decades putting down artists who do “sell out,” and then he does a total 360 and wonders why people find this behavior to be atypical from such a “rebel” as himself.

Hell, I completely respect Jack White, and he “sells out” on a regular basis, but he doesn’t bitch about it at the same time. There’s a difference, you know.

I would love to meet an artist that actually consults with the “fans” about their next move. Thats the dumbest shit I’ve heard in some time. Its not up to the fans to decide these kinds of things. You’re either a fan or your not. Do you sit everyone down an go over possible ideas for this site or do act like a man and make them yourself? The problem isn’t what he did-its the fact that people have a very hard time with artists like him making too much money for work they did years ago. Bottom line is: its his song, he wrote it with help from no one so he can do whatever he wants. and thats how my opinion stands

You forgot to mention the part where he released FOUR (!) DIFFERENT VERSIONS of his Zwan album to four different retailers. I could never figure out if he was trying to f!@# his fans or the retailers. I felt gyped, either way. This dude has been about exploiting his “artistry” for cash for a long, long time. What happened to the days of Machina II, which was released for free, as an F-U to the record company? sheesh. I really, really loved this guy’s work and the scene that the band was about in the mid-to-late 90s. I don’t think I’m romanticizing the period either. It was really , really great. They could’ve all been legendary, but his ego has taken that asunder, long ago.

It’s fairly acknowledged that I AM an asshole.

So, my opinion stands, and I own this website, so you either read it or not. I don’t really care.

If Corgan honestly changed his mind and cared what his fans thought, he would have engaged them on some level and given them the lowdown. Otherwise, he can deal with assholes like me having my “deepshit opinion.”

Don’t be an asshole yourself. So what if he changed his mind? the day you write songs like these, make millions like he has and spend 10+ years without selling them you can give your deepshit opinion.
