Aye, fookin’ aye. It appears that, after lots of talk and eight years, Troy Duffy’s sequel to Boondock Saints has finally started its principal photography in Toronto. In attendance for Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day are Sean Patrick Flanery & Norman Reedus as fraternal twins Connor & Murphy MacManus, as well as Billy Connelly as the twins’ father, Il Duce. Somehow, the script also calls for David Della Rocco to appear in a dream sequence as his Rocco character, who is obviously quite dead at this point. The twins’ new sidekick, Romeo, is said to be quite like Rocco but much more “badass” and shall be played by Clifton Collins. The most bizarre addition, however, is the sequel’s new authority figure, who will certainly have some high-heeled shoes to fill in place of Willem Defoe’s flamboyant FBI agent. Duffy has cast Julie Benz as this female lead character, Unis Bloom.
So, we’re basically going from this:

To what can only be described as, um, this:

That’s quite a difference, don’t you think? As far as the sequel’s plot is concerned, Connor and Murphy will be back in Boston and doing the vigilante thing against the underworld of crime. I’ll give it a go. It can’t be half as bad as most of the shite I’ve seen this year. With the exemption of the lovely Bat and Iron men of course…
rowr. I’m there. I wonder if it could ever match the feverish weirdness of the first one, but I’m sure it will be worth seeing.
