German director Uwe Boll has spent the last few years pushing the envelope of movie-making, mostly by trying to punch through the bottom of said envelope. Right now three of his films–Alone in the Dark, House of the Dead, and BloodRayne II: Deliverance–are on IMDb’s list of the Bottom 100 Movies of All Time, and many would say that’s less recognition than he deserves. (In the Name of the King, I’m looking in your general direction.) Nevertheless, the man keeps making movies. Uwe’s next movie–Postal–opens in May, and he’s got something like six other projects in various stages of completion. There’s just no stopping him.

Or so it would appear. A small group of lovers of film—which automatically makes them haters of Boll—started an online petition asking Boll to stop inflicting his films on the public. Boll was asked about the site, which had manage to collect 18,000 signatures, in a recent interview. “18,000 isn’t enough to convince me,” he said, adding that it would take more like a million signatures.

Thanks for letting us know, Uwe. Right now the petition has 61,500 signatures, and it’s adding more at a rate of roughly 5,000 an hour. At this rate, it will take less than a week to put an end to Boll’s career. Granted, he’s got so many projects in the pipeline that we’ll be seeing new Uwe Boll movies until Zombie Massacre premieres in 2010, but go ahead and sign anyway. It’s a small but vital step toward making the next decade a little less sucky than this one.
