Cameron Diaz Wants to Blow Up the World

By Mr. Atoz in Cameron Diaz, Smoking Bolts

Cameron Diaz has a truly mystifying career. A quick look at her filmography at IMDb shows for about five years now her resumé has been really, really… how shall we put this?… Shrek-heavy. But Cameron still qualifies as a hot property in Hollywood, and she pops up regularly in magazines and television, for reasons that are somewhat unclear. This month she gets scads of coverage in Marie Claire, focusing on her regular-gal qualities and her intense, if vague, desire to save the planet. It all sounds harmless enough, in a Hollywood do-gooder sort of way. But then, according to People, Cameron goes into her Hank Scorpio mode:

It’s the planet, you know what I mean?… She should be … a star. How do we make this little planet of ours a big star? I want everybody to know who she is.”

Cameron Diaz is very far from the worst human being in show biz, but it’s hard to overlook the fact that when she starts talking about Big Ideas, she sounds absolutely baked. This was particularly apparent on her MTV series Trippin’, where she traveled the globe with fellow world-savers like Eva Mendez and Redman, making unfortunate comments at every stop. (For a thoughtful, dispassionate review of the series, go here.) Personally, I’d trade in my car for a freakin’ Segway if Cameron could guarantee me that the Charlie’s Angels franchise was absolutely stone cold dead.

Ha! I always laugh at that picture. Guess that makes me rather juvenile, don’t it?

I’m not gonna criticize. After all, I was juvenile enough to go there.

I thought she was great as the straight-man in ‘Mary’. That scene pictured above was great for it was totally unexpected.

I read somewhere earlier this evening that in her Marie Claire interview, she also says she’d like a bigger butt, “more meat on” her bones. But that, she’s “not built that way”. To that particular remark, I call bullshit. She wasn’t born as thin as she is now. In fact, she had quite a good modeling career when she was considerably meatier (although still slim) than she is now.

Remember The Mask? She weighed more and I couldn’t take my eyes off her legs.

Very distracting.
