For an old guy (not even sixty, actually, but the man’s definitely looking rough), Bill Murray is keeping pretty busy. He’s got a role in the Jim Jarmusch film The Limits of Control, which opens next month, and IMDb lists four more movies in post-production. Now comes word that Murray will also make an appearance as a brain-sucking zombie in Ruben Fleischer’s debut feature Zombieland, coming out in October. The studio won’t confirm or deny Murray’s appearance, and claims that saying anything further would “give away the plot.” This sounds like he’s in, unless his part disappears during the editing process.
Zombieland is billed as a “horror-comedy,” which is rarely a good idea. (Not funny enough to make you laugh, not scary enough to make you scream.) Besides, Simon Pegg covered the zombie horror-comedy slot just fine not too long ago. So it’s safe to predict that Zombieland won’t threaten World War Z as the next must-see zombie movie. But it’s got an interesting cast (more zombies: Mila Kunis and Emma Stone, plus a non-undead Woody Harrelson), and advance word on the project has been reasonably favorable. So they’ve got that going for them.

When I first saw that picture, I was sure it was Bear Bryant. If Bill can coach football decently, he’ll have a job at Alabama as long as he wants…
