If you’re out of a job, and can work in a high-stress environment with lots of random, capricious punishment—Lehman Brothers banker, say, or possibly rodeo clown—then Courtney Love might have a position for you. She’s looking for a housekeeper. Also a personal assistant with some filmmaking chops to work on a documentary about her amazing life. The payoff for that gig is a chance to work on Heavier than Heaven, the long-promised Kurt Cobain biopic, assuming the PA survives that long. There’s a lot more, but I don’t think it really clarifies the offer. Personally, I think the housekeeping position would be more interesting. Stick it out for a few months, and you’d have material for a collection of essays that David Sedaris would give large portions of his anatomy to write. On second thought, literacy might be a real drawback in that position. Any marginally literate person who had to spend time around someone who writes like that would probably beat her to death with a copy of the Chicago Manual of Style before the first month was out.
