Daniel Radcliffe is certainly hitting the publicity circuit for his latest Harry Potter film, and it appears that nothing is beyond admission. Not only has the bloke donned a long blonde wig and stated his belief that “Rob Pattinson is a genuine sexy guy,” Radcliffe has also confessed to his own “fairly romantic” tendencies. The 19-year old actor’s “passion” for poetry, however, has produced some very unromantic results. A quartet of poems by Radcliffe have been published under a pseudonym and cover some surprisingly nonorthodox subject matter:
The most controversial of the four, Away Days, details the narrator’s affairs with prostitutes.
A second poem is in homage to [Pete] Doherty while another takes aim at Simon Cowell and the queues of “deluded” fans who line up to compete in TV talent contests.
They appeared under the pseudonym Jacob Gershon, a combination of Radcliffe’s middle name and the Jewish version of his mother’s maiden name, Gresham.
One of Radcliffe’s four poems is available here, but you’ll hardly be impressed. While I’m certainly no expert on poetry, it’s pretty evident that metre has been sacrificed for the almighty rhyme. For sure, Radciffe is no Chaucer nor even a Doherty, but, luckily, there’s still that very lucrative acting career to help him get along.
Thanx to Flea.
P.S. Yes, that Babyshambles tattoo is sheer fakery but fittingly illustrates the spirit of Radcliffe’s “homage to Doherty.”
