Ontario Provincial Police allegedly saved the life of David Lee Roth after a patrolman pulled the erratically-driving rock star over and discovered what appeared to be a severe allergic reaction. Details are incredibly sketchy:
Const. Larry Plummer said he doesn’t know how word of the incident got out, as police don’t comment on medical assists.
Const. Chris Thompson, one of the officers who helped, said he felt there was something unusual about the man. “At the time, I wasn’t star struck,” Thompson said. “I was just trying to help him. The guy stuck out like a sore thumb. He was wearing a little silk scarf and flashy clothing — it’s not something you see in Oakland too often.”
Seriously, does David Lee Roth always wear his stage clothing? Even while obviously not on tour and driving a private rental car? What’s even more bizarre is that this incident reportedly occurred in May while Van Halen was on the fourth leg of their U.S. tour. Naturally, the fans YouTubed the hell out of that shit:

- May 2nd in Charlotte, VA
- May 5th in Raleigh, NC
- May 7th in Columbus, OH
- May 9th in Atlantic City, NJ
- May 11th in Deluth, GA
- May 13th in East Rutherford, NJ
- May 15th in Baltimore, MA
- May 18th in Hershey, PA
- May 20th in Uncasville, CT
- May 23rd in New York, NY
- May 25th in Providence, RI
- May 28th in Manchester, NH
- May 30th in Chicago, IL
Skepticism may not be a generally attractive trait, but it sure does provide a convenient excuse for endless YouTube enjoyment. Methinks that this report was actually the result of a wayward-driving schbang by Whitesnake’s David Coverdale, who was driven to fake such an incident by an endless quest for relevance. Now, just for Groovy Vic, there’s a picture of retro Roth in assless chaps below the cut:

Thanks!
I actually live fairly close to where this happened and it was in Oakville, Ontario, not Oakland.
I just dfid some further checking on this and I stand corrected, it was indeed Oakland.
the sources are all over the place. do you know the actual date?
No I don’t know the date, but I do know it was at least a few weeks ago. Because it was a medical emergency the police here do not usually release the information to the public.
