It’s just three short weeks until Burlesque gets its general release, and already the Sony publicity machine is churning away, spewing out interviews with Cher, oddly timed breakups, and whatever else it takes to keep the movie front and center in the public consciousness. And yet somehow, strangely enough, they managed to overlook Dita von Teese. The most famous burlesque dancer on the planet sounds markedly unenthused about Burlesque. Actually, she thinks it just might suck, and she probably won’t even bother seeing it to find out if that’s the case:
I just hope it is representative of what neo-burlesque is and people who see the movie aren’t put off by it,” she is quoted as saying by British newspaper The Daily Express…. “Well. I don’t really go to the movie theatre often,” she said when asked if she would be going to see Christina’s film. “I much prefer to see real-life burlesque shows and performances.”
Good lord. Did these two have a gigantic spat at some point that I managed to overlook? I sort of like the idea of them duking it out over Jordan Bratman, but that’s probably too preposterous for this plane of existence. Let’s try to keep these baseless speculations firmly rooted in reality.

Huh?? I knew Ms Von Teese was famous for *something*. Er, dating an ugly shocker rock guy… fashion show visiting… make-up tips… really high heel shoe walking…
But a burlesque dancer? Isn't she a bit skinny (or busy elsewhere doing something) for that?
[...] Dita Von Teese thinks Burlesque just may suck it ABH [...]
Proof that the Four ‘P’s really work: Product, Price, Placement and Promotion.
A good body and a so-so face, packaged and promoted to the hilt, can make anyone a star and, apparently, a critic of those more talented than themselves.
She’s a fucking burlesque performer. Not a singer. Not an actress. Not a brilliant political or scientific mind. She’s a glorified stripper with better choreography and a costume department.
Even Marylin Manson replaced her with someone younger and more talented.
Sorry.
Not feeling particularly gracious today.
