Ask Jeeves just released their list of the most frequent internet queries for 2009. The list is compiled from more than 20 million questions Ask Jeeves receives each month, so it’s fair to say this is a definitive look at what people want to know—the questions that we as a species feel must be answered. The fifth question on the list, incidentally, is, “Is Michael Jackson dead?” Based on these questions, it would be easy to get the impression that this global mind we’re constructing is kind of a doofus. Lady Gaga’s mystery meat was a mildly funny joke for about 72 hours something like four months ago, but it’s time to give the joke a rest and move on to more serious subjects.
