Or not. Craig Schneider, who handles publicity for Neil Patrick Harris, seems to think fans of the hit series How I met Your Mother are a bunch of knuckle-dragging homophobes. The flack went ballistic over a minor post at canada.com (scroll down to find it) describing how Harris got a guest part on the sitcom for actor David Burtka, whom the post described as Harris’ “longtime sweetheart.”? Schneider promptly issued a press release stating that Harris was “not of that persuasion,”? a statement that’s a small masterpiece of weaselry. Not gay? Harris has never been particularly secretive about his sexuality. Not nepotistic? Technically no, unless Harris and Burtka are cousins and Schneider is covering for them. Or not Canadian? Harris has long claimed to be from Albuquerque, despite reports that he can be found hanging around the sleazy poutine bars in West Hollywood.

Of course, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with being gay. Or with being Canadian, for that matter. Although being both gay and Canadian would really be pushing the envelope.
