Upon arrival at the launch party for The Smashing Pumpkins new album, Zeitgeist, Billy Corgan was still trying to convince himself that he still wants to remain a rock star.
Billy, we’re not so convinced that you are convinced. Despite your endless wealth acquired from writing angst-filled albums, you feel the need to continue on in the same manner without the genuine yet figurative hunger that drove you to success in the first place. Perhaps it’s time for a career change – your poetry was surprisingly palatable – and a respectable career as a novelist very well could await your shiny head. However, you are no longer a rock star, per se, and this sad fact was apparent throughtout the ill-fated Machina (2000) and especially within this particular lyric:
You know I’m not dead. You know I, You know I, I’m nooooooooooooooottttttt dead.
Yes, Billy, I’m afraid that you are dead, and considering the presence of a barber shop quartet, you’ve undoubtedly reached the third circle of hell.
