Damn, Duff McKagen can’t keep it in his pants as far as sticking with a band is concerned. First, there was Guns ‘n’ Roses; then came Velvet Revolver; next up was Jane’s Addiction; but Duff’s now going with Loaded. In Duff’s latest Seattle Weekly/Reverb column (and yes, I’ve given the guy plenty of shit as far as content goes but — let’s face it — his writing is easily much more readable and amiable than, say, that of the insufferable Gwyneth Paltrow), the most fleeting and ephemeral bass player of all time has detailed his desire to tour next year with Loaded. Then, he reveals this bit of questionable TMI:
The odors that start to happen when it is just dudes hanging in the same room for 12 hours at a time can be quite stunning, to be sure. It’s weird. The smells–as I have noted–are almost always preceded by a sharp and quick muffled noise. I wonder what that is all about. Studio X smells JUST like our tour bus. Strange.
We hope to find Loaded a label home that will do our record a bit more justice this time around. There is not a group of guys anywhere who deserve more reciprocation from a like-minded, hard-working record company. But THAT is another story!
Well, I wish the guy plenty of luck in finding a decent record label in this unfortunate climate, but he certainly doesn’t help matters by discussing how disgusting his band smells. Still, it appears that Duff has made up his mind as to which band’s “smell” he most prefers; and, as if to confirm Duff’s status as a newly revived “Loaded” man, Perry Ferrell tweeted the following notice of yet another bass player’s imminent departure from Jane’s Addiction:
Well, that’s an awfully diplomatic statement from Mr. Farrell. I wonder if that’s the ultimate long-lasting effect of touring with a sober Trent Reznor…
