Nowadays, independent film and music are commonplace, even respectable, topics of discussion, but one seldom hears a whisper about indie television because, quite simply, issues of sponsorship and syndication elude all but the few. One exception to this rule is “The Edge with Jake Sasseville,” which can most easily be described as “a late night talk show on a shoe string budget.” The program has recently entered its second season (and has secured syndication for a third), and a pal of ours at IBBB also produces the show:
The Edge with Jake Sasseville launches season 2 in 43 markets nationwide May, 2009. Sasseville and his team have secured syndication deals through September, 2010 as they produce, tweak and trailblaze into late night. Each season is 15 weeks.
About Show 1Forget formula TV. Irreverent and offbeat, the unscripted half-hour of entertainment is a compelling and unexpected look at the world from Jake’s eyes.
When “The Office’s” Rainn Wilson canceled his interview at the last minute (Jake was waiting outside of “The Office”), Jake drove to the actor’s house outside Los Angeles and broke in. The talk show host found Wilson in his underwear playing video games. The hilarity ensues.
A running gag in this episode just happens to be Rainn Wilson’s Social Security number. That’ll teach him to cancel an interview! Check out a clip below.
