If you’re one of the many who got a virtual hard-on for the impending Van Halen reunion tour, toss some cold water on it because it’s gonna be awhile. Eddie Van Halen has tucked himself into a rehabilitation clinic for alcohol abuse and issued a statement:
I would like Van Halen fans to know how much I truly appreciate each and every one of you. Without you there is no Van Halen.
I have always and will always feel a responsibility to give you my best. At the moment I do not feel that I can give you my best. That’s why I have decided to enter a rehabilitation facility to work on myself, so that in the future I can deliver the 110% that I feel I owe you and want to give you.
Some of the issues surrounding the 2007 Van Halen tour are within my ability to change and some are not. As far as my rehab is concerned, it is within my ability to change and change for the better. I want you to know that is exactly what I’m doing, so that I may continue to give you the very best I am capable of.
I look forward to seeing you in the future better than ever and I thank you with all my heart.
Love,
Ed
Eddie has also announced that because of his committment to the rehab process, he will not be present for Van Halen’s Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame induction ceremony that is scheduled for March 12th. Good for him. Since committment to most sets of worthy principles is far too scarce these days, it’s rather shocking to hear a statement such as Eddie’s. I would have used the word “sobering” rather than “shocking,” but it just didn’t seem appropriate . . . yet. Good luck to you, Eddie. We’re pulling for you.

What, did he make some embarrassing remark in public or do something stupid like shave his head?
SURELY he couldn’t be in rehab for…actual rehab, could he?
All obnoxiousness aside, good for him. Yeah, I hope I can go see VH when he’s back in the game, but it can wait. Hell, we’ve waited for what, 20 years? I’m glad he’s getting his shit together.
Amen. I think he can succeed at this, and I have a hell of a lot of respect for the guy.
Go Eddie! The real question is what made him go hard on the sauce again? If it was DLR we may have a problem.
I’ve already got tix for the Police in two cities, and I’ll buy Halen tickets if it really happens… but I’m not holding my breath. There aren’t enough shrinks in the L.A. area to keep those two from self-imploding when in the same space for too long.
I’d suggest the following to ensure a successful tour:
2 Tour Buses
2 Hairstylists (or a Hairclub for Men rep for Mr. Roth)
2 Dressing room areas
2 Soy Milk dispensers
2 Post-concert interview rooms (want to watch Eddie lose his mind, see his reaction when DLR is at a microphone that isn’t on stage)
…and the best part of this whole arrangement…
2 Valerie Bertinellis
(a boy can dream, can’t he?)

Okay Bedhead, I said my other comment on your Kate Moss thread would basically be my only post on this site but you have backed me into a corner with this post about rock God and guitar legend Eddie Van Halen. I wish Eddie all the best and a speedy recovery.
12 steps Eddie.
Plus he got to see that One Day At A Time cutie Valerie Bertinelli naked numerous times!!!
