I ♥ Emilie Autumn, and the first time I ever listened to her music, it sounded as inherently familiar to me as the first time I heard Nine Inch Nails’ “Head Like A Hole” on a college radio station back in 1989. I’ve been remiss for never mentioning Emilie on this site, but a few days ago, Flea pointed me towards a live performance of “Dead Is The New Alive,” and I’ve been listening to the Liar/Dead Is The New Alive double EP ever since. Yep . . . for the past two days straight.
As an aside, that Reznorgasm, swiftly delivered by Nine Inch Nails, has paid off by the gallon:
[I]t appears to be working quite well for Reznor, who has managed to sell all 2,500 copies of his $300 package without major label backing or much in the way of splashy marketing. If Reznor’s earlier experiments in digital distribution failed to recoup their costs, he’s clearly learned his lesson: grossing $750,000 in the space of three days isn’t a bad haul for any businessperson.
Trent Reznor hasn’t done too badly at all for giving away free music, and, best of all, he never even had to leave his living room.

Oh, I’d pay a LOT more than $300 for Trent’s package if he delivered it to my apartment!
Should I be afraid? Turned on? Both?
I may have to check her out. Her CD I mean.
Definitely both.
Mmmm…dunno, a little too much Lolita vibe for my taste. Besides, she reminds me of those surly semi-goth art girls in high school that always taunted me for some reason.
Excuse me, but someone mentioned a package. After that, my brain ceased to function.
[...] If Trent Reznor was a chick (ABH) [...]
I dunno, she’s not doing it for me. Then again I’ve never been a huge NIN fan either, though they certainly have their moments. And there is this, which (at risk of being branded a total geek) is the most brilliant thing on youtube:

OMG jvon, that video had me laughing so hard I could barely contain myself.
As for the girl, I’m not familiar with her music so I’ll check it out but, style wise…she’s waaaay over-styled and manipulated. Isn’t she simply a pinker version of the Avril we all love to hate?
Yeah, Emilie does seriously overdo the pinks and reds, but I think it works for her. Her background is as a classical violinist, and she opened her own indie music label at a young age because the major label that had signed her had tried to mold her to their liking.
So, yes, she is overly styled, but it is all her, baby.
i dig Emilie. i think the pink works for her as well, even if she is rather styled to death. but then, i’ve always liked that goth/loli/zombie thing that she seems to be into. and i like her music as well. hooray industrial.
going off to listen to that album now….
