Eta Kuram na Smekh, Dammit

By Mr. Atoz in Film, Joss Whedon, Summer Glau

The Firefly/Serenity franchise is so thoroughly dead it might as well have been torn to bits by Reavers, but some interesting fragments still show up from time to time. Like this video, which shows a rehearsal for the fight scene in the Maidenhead Bar right after the Fruity Oaty Bar commercial lights River Tam’s fuse. What’s interesting here is that the rehearsal looks roughly eight times as violent as the real thing. (And by “real thing,” I mean that fake movie thing that we all saw.)

Joss Whedon could learn a lesson from this. A dose of graphic, kickass violence like this might have kept Dollhouse running for many, many more seasons. Particularly if Whedon took this approach to negotiating with the suits at Fox.
