An abundance of Pete Doherty news has been unleashed over the past few days, so I shall attempt to present it in a rather condensed format. To start, Babyshambles fans will be thrilled by reports that the band’s new album is scheduled to release in October and will be called “Shotter’s Nation.” The album’s tracks have been produced by Stephen Street, who is well-known for his work with The Smiths and Blur.
On a slightly less reputable but highly entertaining note (thanx to Sondra K.), The Sun publishes hints that Pete wants to put out a stage musical about his relationship with Kate Moss.
Pete thinks it would be such a waste if he scrapped all the material they created together. The story was centred around a love tale of two star-crossed lovers as they struggle through life. When Pete is on stage or going to court it is often like he is acting anyway, so the two gel into one.
Ha! Somehow, I don’t see a Kate-Pete musical happening at all, but perhaps this story was contrived to supplement the donation- masquerading-as-blackmail rumour. Surely, anyone would hand over abundant cash to keep their romantic entanglements from hitting the West End.
Finally, Pete appeared in court for a review on some old drug charges (see pictures at Celebitchy). As typical, the judge gave him one last chance to evade prison and ordered him back for another drug review on Sept. 4, but in a shocking twist, Doherty was “released on bail to give him a chance to stay clean with the condition he stays out of the capital for a month.” This pretty much guarantees that if Pete gets arrested within the next month, it will be while trying to hide in some random farmer’s barn in an attempt to stay out of London.
During court, Pete turned around several times to smile towards his mother, the beleaguered Jacqueline Doherty, who attended the court hearing and was seated next to several of his son’s groupies. “He then sped away in a car blowing kisses and flicking V-signs at fans and press.” Perhaps he really does possess some acting chops after all.
