The Labor Day weekend box office was slow, with Tropic Thunder holding onto the #1 spot for the third week running. But that’s not the real story here. No, the big news is the spectacularly poor performance of Disaster Movie, which barely managed to take in one-third as much as Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer’s three previous crapfests. Bad reviews have never slowed these guys down, but underperformance on this level might spare us the pain of Epic Movie 2.
Ironically, the reviews might be the one thing that makes Disaster Movie even slightly memorable. The film managed to get a Rotten Tomatoes rating of 0.0%–an impressive feat, but one or two other movies have managed to pull it off. However, voters at IMDb managed to catapult Disaster Movie into the #1 spot on their list of the 100 Worst Movies of All Time. That’s an impressive list, with some serious competition. So take heart, guys. Your movie might be the cinematic equivalent of a Cleveland Steamer, and a moneyloser to boot, but at least you’ve managed to surpass Uwe Boll.

I knew there had to be a Uwe Boll slam in there somewhere. Keep up the good work.
