Remember that wistful feeling that arose whenever “Careless Whisper” by Wham! would blare through the speakers at the skating rink? A smidgen of a chance exists that this could once again become a reality, minus the skating rink detail:
The buzz in New York is that GEORGE MICHAEL and ANDREW RIDGELEY will secretly fly to the US this summer to start recording new material.
But all this has been denied by George’s manager ANDY STEVENS.
The requisite manager denial means virtually nothing, for this bit of news is most likely a barometer of sorts to gauge fans’ interest in a new Wham! album. The problem with the such a reunion followed by the inevitable tour is threefold:
(1) George and Andrew are two decades older than during their former Wham! stint, but if the duo remembers to take their ginkgo bilopa, this difficulty could be rendered moot;
(2) Andrew Ridgeley now outclasses George Michael, since the latter has been arrested for drug and alcohol-related incidents almost as many times as Pete Doherty. This may or may not be a problem, depending on how desperate Andrew is for cash.
(3) George Michael is no longer pretending to be heterosexual, and thus, the formerly-fooled female fans won’t flock to the concert arenas to toss their bras onstage.
Admittedly, that last difficulty could present a few problems as far as potential concert grosses are concerned. However, if you tour my city, George Michael, I do sincerely promise to toss my bra in your direction.

Geez–my first reaction when I saw the pictures on the left was “what the heck is Sadie doing linking to a story about Andrew Sullivan?”
Given George Michael’s tendencies to fall asleep in parked cars, “Wake Me Up Before You Go Go” has never been more appropriate.
The most surprising thing about the pictures here is that, from looking at them, no one would have guessed that Ridgeley would be the straight one. There go the stereotypes.
