Hard Times For The Pr0n Industry

By Agent Bedhead in Boobies, Evil Corporations, Male Whores

Is pr0n fast losing its appeal to actual sex? That could be one possible explanation for the industry’s self-disappointment that its growth is slowing.

The sex-related entertainment business grew in 2006 by just 2.4 percent, roughly the rate of inflation, to just under $13 billion, according to Paul Fishbein, president of the AVN Media Network, which publishes five trade magazines and runs industry conferences.

At $13 billion in annual sales, the sex entertainment industry is making big fuss over nothing. Instead, they should thank their lucky fucking stars that people watch that crap considering the ubiquitous presence of this guy:

Ron Jeremy

In addition, I’m beginning to wonder if the pr0n industry even invests in a security entourage for its biggest stars. This is a necessary measure to protect against infiltration from more unsavory types than the pr0n stars themselves. To illustrate the direness of the situation even further, check out this photograph:

Ron Jeremy and Kevin Federline

Finally, one must factor in the readily available sources of pr0n online, so I hear anyway. Aside from the sometimes free Paris Hilton and Fred Durst sex-type videos available, in which scenario would you prefer to purchase Big Trouble In LIttle Vagina: (1) An uncomfortable transaction in a local store where anyone could walk in and see you; or (2) Secure and relatively private online shopping for said trashy film? Yep, that makes you and everyone else.

That would be yet another indication that Al Gore’s internet can rustle the most seemingly comfortable industries. One bit of good news is that the good old fashioned MILF still has what it takes:

“[T]he one area of huge growth” was hard-core movies featuring women in their 30s into their 70s, a trend that has brought new work for some of the industry’s stars.

On that note, the industry should really take heed in its reasons for success and maybe even observe how Ron Jeremy does it – aim for longevity instead of rapid growth.

You can even get pr0n on demand online, you know.

Wait, did I just admit that I know that???
