Sometimes, I just have to giggle at the hysteria surrounding the dating lives of celebrities. Just look at Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem, who have been, apparently, “getting serious” on the basis of a bystander report from a post-Oscar party:

“He took Penelope for a spin on the dance floor in front of all his family. It’s getting pretty serious.”

Oooh, really? Well, it seems that people dance together all the time, and this can mean absolutely nothing at all. After all, from the above pictures, it sure looks like Javier is more interested in F*cking Josh Brolin, and Miss Cruz has been recently quoted as dissing the significance of marriage.

Yet despite all of the above contrariness and Woody Harrelson’s recent oopsie revelation, Javier and Penelope have been dating for quite some time. These two seem to enjoy keeping things under wraps, so no one really knows the seriousness of the relationship or its actual duration. In addition, while I would like to question Cruz’s sanity for dating Tom Cruise for two years, I gotta admire a couple like Javier and Penelope for not shoving it in our faces at all moments.

Now, for the stuff that we do want to see. While Penelope and Javier do appear together in the upcoming Woody Allen flick, Vicky Cristina Barcelona, they also appeared together in 1992’s Jamón Jamón. This film is an amusing and sexy satire that is pretty hard to find on DVD in the U.S., but if you look hard enough in various places, you can find the entirety of the film (with subtitles) online.
