Javier Bardem seems to be quite the ladies’ man in Woody Allen’s upcoming Vicky Cristina Barcelona, but will anyone ever see this damned film before DVD release? Despite the promising sight of Scarlett Johansson’s crackage and persistent rumours about a sex scene that features a little girl-on-girl action between Penelope Cruz and Scarlett Johansson, there is also the harsh reality that Woody Allen’s films really don’t go into theaters as more than limited releases. However, the eye candy factor with the film’s cast will likely provide for a nice first week of DVD sales.

In other Javier news, he and that Oscar award definitely won’t be appearing in Francis Ford Coppola’s upcoming Tetro, which saw a recent addition of the revolting Vincent Gallo, Male Gigolo, in the film’s title role. Strangely, Gallo jumped on board shortly after announcing his retirement to drop out of David Argento’s Giallo because he is too damn immature to work with his ex-fiancé, Asia Argento. However, now that Gallo is firmly in place for Tetro, Javier seems to be out. For whatever reason, Coppola rewrote Javier’s part in a
so-called “sex change” operation:

“One of the important roles in the script is a mentor and teacher to Tetro (Vincent Gallo), and I originally wrote it for a man. As I read and reread (the script), I felt that the interaction between the two characters would be far more intriguing if they were of the opposite sex.”

Bardem has been replaced by Carmen Maura (Volver), who is no doubt grateful that Gallo did not pen the Tetro script, so she won’t be in any danger of a blowjob scene. On that note, Cinema Blend wryly alludes that “those hoping for a Bardem-Gallo sex scene” will have to get their rocks off elsewhere. Happy slapping!
