Yeah, I shamelessly swiped this satellite photoimagery of the newly-deemed Category Five Hurricane Rita from the uberpolitically-incorrect Velociman. I did so mostly because of the high probability that tuning into Fox News will feature Greta Van Susteren gleefully crapping her pants over this latest impending catastrophe.
Let me state the obvious – This is one hellish hurricane season for the Gulf Coast. This beast will make landfall sometime Friday morning, and as usual, a substantial number of idiots will decide to ride out the storm. I do hope they have arranged for the disposition of their estates.

Maybe. But I tend to think Texas did a much better job this time of evacuation. They figured out who did nt have transportation and had meeting places and buses ready to roll. And the nursing homes were also evacuated.
Katrina may have saved a lot of lives in Texas.
I thought I knew a lot of people in and around New Orleans. The number pales in comparison to the family and friends who will be touched directly by this one.
