Just Like Barbie, Only Vastly More Deranged

By Mr. Atoz in Lady Gaga, Weird Ass Novelties

GaGa Dolls

Everyone’s 2010 Christmas shopping just got a whole lot easier. A new line of Lady GaGa dolls has been announced, and they might even be in stores in time for the holidays. The GaGa dolls are the work of Lu Wei Kang, a Chinese designer with a social life that should make you feel much, much better about yourself. Lu has spent months designing dolls wearing every whacked-out ensemble GaGa has ever appeared in, so presumably he’s got thousands of these things. And it’s not just a labor of love, but a potential profit center:

I have never met her in person, but I really hope that she would like her dolls. Right now, I just make dolls for fun but I plan to sell them so more Lady Gaga and Barbie fans can own them.I may sell them via online auctions first and hopefully in shops after that.

GaGa is far from my least favorite person in music (I’m looking in your direction, John Mayer), but the notion that she has fans obsessed enough to collect these things is a little disturbing. Although not as disturbing as the idea of selling them to kids. Honestly, I’d be happier to learn my niece was buying up Wednesday Addams’ collection of headless Barbies than to find her playing with GaGa in that Kermit-genocide outfit.
