Kate Hudson hasn’t quite jumped into the goop with Gwyneth Paltrow yet, but she’s in grave danger of taking herself way too seriously. Lately she’s been dating Alex Rodriguez—no mean feat, since the man is so in love with himself that supposedly he has portraits of himself as a centaur hanging in his bedroom. Understandably, Kate’s pretty impressed with herself for cutting in on the action between A-Rod and his gigantic, throbbing ego. At any rate, when Hudson appeared on MTV News as part of the promotional tour for Nine, Josh Horowitz couldn’t resist asking her about the rumor (and showing her a picture of a centaur, just in case she had centaurs confused with mermen or Eskimos or some other mythological creature). Kate was not amused:

Kate: That is the craziest thing anyone has ever asked me.
Horowitz: You’re not answering the question.
Kate: I would never indulge in anything so ridiculous.
Horowitz: This was in a reputable magazine… Us Weekly!
Kate: That’s… No. I don’t indulge in those types of stories. As humorous as you might think they are.

In other words: Yes, A-Rod does own portraits of himself as a centaur, and that’s not funny. Actually, Kate, it is pretty funny. Perhaps she needs to laugh along with the rest of us for a moment, then count her blessings by remembering that at least nobody laughed at Fool’s Gold.
