Kate Moss Renews Her Most Lucrative Contract

Kate Moss For Rimmel

There was speculation that Rimmel planned to drop 33-year old Kate from its trendy make-up line that is generally geared towards a younger market than those aged 33 years. If that would have happened, Kate would have lost $6 million per year, but Coty Inc. announced yesterday that they had renewed her contract, and she will continue pouting for the Rimmel London:

Kate Moss delivers a distinctive type of beauty that is both inspirational and attainable to Rimmel users. She is a terrific model for the mainstream cosmetic line and she will continue to represent the brand.

However, Coty has decided to launch a new and different line, Rimmel Underground, which shall be geared towards Generation Y and “exude fun and sexiness.” Perhaps this decision suggests that Rimmel London will age along with Moss and contain its own excitement, rather than exude it.

Still, since in the year following Kate’s cocaine scandal, she managed to triple her yearly earnings from $13.5 million to roughly $30 million. In fact, by October 2006, Kate Moss had signed 14 new modelling contracts, which is more than any other celebrity has ever done in such a short amount of time.

Only Chanel took steps to permanently replace the scorned model, but after a few weeks of rehab for her cocaine abuse, Versace, Rimmel, Agent Provocateur, Stella McCartney, Dior, Burberry, Calvin Klein, Roberto Cavalli, Louis Vuitton, Topshop, Nikon cameras and Virgin mobiles all wanted her for their adverts. One would think that these lofty houses of fashion would prefer to distance themselves from Kate’s impropriety. The downside of such a decision would be that Kate is one of the few models who actually has selling power. A former editor of Marie Claire magazine stated the

following

Most models no longer even sell magazines. If I ever put a model, even Gisele Bundchen, on the cover of Marie Claire when I was editor, I would see sales plummet ”’ but Kate is the exception.

The same hypocritical consumerism applies to the clothing and makeup lines that Kate Moss sells each fashion season. Many people cannot understand why Cocaine Kate is still in such demand and is even seen as a role model when she surrounds herself with the likes of Pete Doherty. When one considers that Rimmel, Roberto Cavalli, and Burberry all experienced substantial sales growth since the cocaine scandal, then it’s not so surprising after all.

Below the fold are images from Kate’s many years with Rimmel cosmetics.

… thank God that they shadow’d her nostrils… I would hate to see a set that had “become one” due to cocaine erosion…..

Eh. Her face isn’t bad at all but it’s not that great. And her body is from hunger. Literally.
