British Vogue has, apparently, intended to capitalize upon the inherent rivalry between Sienna Miller and Kate Moss. One mustn’t forget Kate’s recent drunken accusations against an (also drunken) Sienna, in which Kate declared that Sienna was “stealing her style” as well as “her lifestyle and her friends too.” Now, British Vogue has positioned both beauties within its December 2007 pages. While 33-year old Kate appears in the lengthier fashion spread, 25-year old Sienna landed the money cover shot.

Of course, this rivalry just makes Moss look rather desperate and, as cliché as this sounds, as if she is clinging to her youth. This is awfully strange behavior for one of the world’s richest supermodels and a member of Vogue’s Glamour Top 50. Kate’s success is contrasted with yesterday’s article from The Independent, which is entitled “The Model Who Fell To Earth”:

[T]his autumn, as her portfolio of contracts shrinks and her photos depict an uncharacteristic loss of control, you have to wonder if the honeymoon is over and, two years after her outing, the cocaine hangover has finally caught up with Kate.

The tabloids do not struggle to find photographs of her looking fab entering London parties and emerging, dishevelled and bleary-eyed, several hours later. Increasingly, Kate Moss looks too thin, grey-faced and wasted, in every sense. And, professionally, while she has fewer contracts than last year, she is also best-known for a high-street line of clothing that the younger generation find “tragic” to be seen wearing. Kate Moss’s clothes line is strictly for the thirtysomething brigade — the gang who dictate which clothes rails the young ones avoid in Topshop — who wish not only that they’ll look like the model while wearing them, but also young and still relevant and plausible party animals. An aspiration, perhaps, to which Kate Moss can relate.

Of course, Kate Moss can rest assured that the age difference may have meant very little in British Vogue’s choice to put Sienna Miller on their December cover. The determinative reason might just be that Sienna flashed her ass during her interview:

“I’m 25, but I swear I’m full of cellulite and stretch marks,” she moans, as she stretches out on the sofa looking like a dream. I don’t believe her, so she promptly rolls over, pulls down her knickers, and shows her bum. “Mmm,” I nod, “Yes, I see.” But all I see is a perfect bum.

Notwithstanding the alleged perfect bum, what a peculiar thing to do!
