These days, director Kevin Smith isn’t just battling Southwest Air but more, how do you say, profanely sacred matters. Of course, some jackasses have questioned why Smith would ever be flying a budget airline, so he revealed on Twitter that he’s taken a huge pay cut to keep his latest film, Cop Out, from becoming a PG-13 casualty. Yep, an upfront 65% salary loss plus some additional cuts… all for the sake of an R-rating. Damn, I hope this fucking works out for Smith, whose excerpted comments can be found below. Since this is Twitter, things appear in reverse chronological order, so it all starts at the bottom of the left column:
Kevin Motherfucking Smith, folks. You know, it’s rather amazing how, as a culture, we remain ridiculously uptight about a few little words. After all, these words have never killed anyone like so-called devout members of religion that wouldn’t dare speak a “dirty” word but would kill in the name of their diety. Fuck that.

After watching a commercial for ‘Cop Out’ it’s my opinion that Michael Smith should have just taken his fucking money and run.
… damn, for a second there I thought the big guy in the back with the crazy hair and shades was Dax…….. Fuck!….
Just damn!

Live Free of Die Hard’s director’s cut was a hard R for language and flowed much better to me than the pg-13 studio release. John McClaine doesn’t say gosh darn it.
Smith also doesn’t cut the commercials, so don’t judge it solely on those.
