They said it couldn’t be done, and some said it shouldn’t be done, but it looks like the Wolverines will be getting a rematch. Site selection for the remake of Red Dawn has been completed, and shooting is expected to start next month and wrap up by December–quick and dirty, in the spirit of the original. Of course, the potential for screwing this up is immense. It would be tragic to see the Wolverines rebooted as a crew of geeky model UNers who bombard Calumet’s occupying forces with a series of strongly worded memos. Which is why it’s reassuring to hear that Kurt Russell might join the cast–presumably to play the downed Air Force colonel played by Powers Boothe in the original. The presence of Kurt Russell would guarantee a near-pathological level of kickassery, and make me feel much more sanguine about this remake. Done properly, it would make a nice palate cleanser after that ridiculous Candyland movie.

As the saying goes: I have a bad feeling about this.
