Wherever George Sampson, the 14-year-old singing and dancing sensation goes, “he is mobbed by screaming teenage girls,” who are also wearing the uniform of white shirt, skinny tie, and trilby hat. No, this is not a true Pete Doherty clone, but a certain similarity is pretty obvious, don’t you think, mates?
Just a month ago, George was declared winner of “Britain’s Got Talent,” and ever since then, his “dreams have come true.” Naturally, little Pete George doesn’t mind all the attention that comes with the rock-star lifestyle:
I’m loving it. I get letters from girls asking me to marry them, groups of girls chanting my name wherever I go. I do have a back disease, but I have never let it worry me and I am not going to now. After the show, we went straight into rehearsals for the tour and we have been going all over the country. I am getting more tired, but I couldn’t be happier – I don’t want this to ever end.
Simon Cowell’s company is said to spend £15,000 a week on tour, most of which is reserved for wee Doherty. Although George and the other finalists are reportedly on a grueling touring schedule, which earns them each £1,200 a week plus a merchandise kickback, no complaints are to be had. That is, until they seek therapy about a decade or so from now.
