It’s not that I don’t like Lily Allen. ‘Cuz I do, for the most part. Yet what I admire most about her — the “screw your conventions” attitude — is also what sometimes irritates me about her. She tends to speak before thinking, which perhaps speaks of brutal honesty but also betrays her inexperience in life. After all, it’s only been a few months since Lily was bashing some performer over the head with a beer bottle as a means of booting him from a festival stage. Yet, in an upcoming Marie Claire interview, Lily has pretty much declared herself a mature adult at the age of 22. Apparently, it’s this unplanned pregnancy thing that has brought out the demureness within Lily:

With her hair swept into an elegant chignon and wearing a chic strapless gown the Smile [sic] star looked serene and curvaceous

[S]he declared she was too young to have children less than a month before her surprise pregnancy was announced. However, just weeks after the pictures were taken the news that she is expecting a baby with new boyfriend Chemical Brothers’ Ed Simons, 37, was publically announced.

Yeah, so now that Lily is knocked up, she’s suddenly transformed from rowdy chav to the perfect image of maternalism. Speaking from experience, I would say that Miss Lily will feel much older (whether she likes it or not) in just a few short years. So, let’s save the sweeping verbal generalizations for just a bit longer, shall we? After all, even Britney Spears thought her impregnation was akin to bona fide maturity, and we all know how that turned out.
