Rick James wasn”””t a nice guy. His life was out of control on a level that makes Charlie Sheen look like a wussy little schoolboy with undescended testicles, and he served a couple of years of richly deserved prison time before he fell over dead two years ago with traces of nine different drugs in his bloodstream. But the man”””s tombstone, which was unveiled last week, has a certain undeniable style:

As Shakespeare wrote (in a very different context), ”””Nothing in his life became him like the leaving it.””? And, just to beat the first commenter to the punch, the flip side of the tombstone does not say, ”””I”””m Rick James, bitch!””?

Cocaine is a hell of a drug.
I’m Rick James’ GHOST Bitch.
As an aside, the Rich James skits by Dave Chappell are pretty damned funny.
Agreed, phin. These days, anyone who thinks of Rick James is at least as likely to remember that tag line as they are to remember “Superfreak.”
i’m suprised they found a cemetary that still allows tombstones that size.
The next part is pretty apt too:
Nothing in his life
Became him like the leaving it; he died
As one that had been studied in his death
To throw away the dearest thing he owed,
As ’twere a careless trifle.
