Love in a Time of Modesty

By Mr. Atoz in Film, Shakira

shakiraShakira’s stage image may be all about the sexy, but she still has her limits. The singer was originally signed on to appear in the screen adaptation of Love in the Time of Cholera, by fellow Colombian Gabriel García Márquez. However, according to producer Scott Steinberg, the Colombian poptart backed out after she learned she would have to do nude scenes. (And if the Agent’s review of the movie is any guide, she may have dodged a bullet.)

Shakira did co-write the soundtrack to the movie, although we don’t have any videos for that. In fact, it’s been a while since Shakira has released a video, so we’ll go with another South American video, La Tigresa del Oriente. The vocals are a good match for Shakira, but overall the production values aren’t quite up to Shakira’s standards. And let’s be honest here: overall I don’t write nearly as well as García Márquez. Evidently we won’t be selling millions of albums or picking up a Nobel Prize any time soon.
