Okay, lame headline, but it’s better than “I’m Getting a Bang Out of These Heels!” which was up there just a moment ago. For the premiere of Filth and Wisdom, Madonna’s attempt to add film directing to the list of things she’s not very good at, the Material Middle Aged Lady showed up in a simple black frock and a pair of nifty pumps with pistol heels, as seen below:

The killer heels are from Chanel’s fall collection, and won’t be available to the likes of you for at least another month. Even then, you might want to think twice about laying out $2,200 for a pair of shoes that aren’t suitable wear for the office, jogging, your grandmother’s funeral, or much of anything else. Predictably, the shoes have generated some controversy. Lynn Costello, a representative of Mothers Against Murder and Aggression and an absolute delight at parties, had this to say:
I am horrified that Madonna can see these shoes as fashion. Celebrities have a massive part to play and an icon like Madonna should have more sense.”
Of course, Madonna knows perfectly well what she’s doing. It’s not easy to keep that edgy, controversial vibe, particularly when you look more like a stick of very sexy beef jerky with every passing day. But in this case, Madonna missed the mark. The look’s already been done–earlier, better, and with a lot more commitment:
