Quite often, contemporary starlets attempt to emulate, with varying degrees of success, the so-called “Old Hollywood Glamour” of yesteryear, and Audrey Hepburn seems to be a fairly popular choice. For her part, Kate Winslet has been rather successful at channeling Veronica Lake on the red carpet during this awards season. However, it seems that no screen idol appeals to actresses more than Marilyn Monroe does. Of course, this would probably not be the case if Monroe had lived long enough to fully destroy what was once the reputation of an alluring, vivacious, and semi-reliable actress. Still, the myth persists, and, now, Scarlett Johansson does her most evocative Monroe for an upcoming Dolce & Gabbana advert:

Scarlett actually doesn’t do a terrible imitation of Monroe, for their body types are fairly similar, and both have that open-mouthed, full-lipped pout going on fairly strong. Some of the other attempts by starlets, such as the self-declarated screen icon known as Paris Hilton are not nearly as successful.
