While Canadians are enjoying the annual Boxers and Furry Hats Festival, police officers in India are getting a high-tech fashion makeover. The drab brown woolen uniforms officers in Gujerat State have worn for decades will be replaced by spiffy new glow-in-the-dark, floral scented uniforms. Presumably these won’t be used for undercover work. According to one senior officer, the force is all for the style upgrade:
“We are tired wearing the thick cotton brown color uniform with a broad belt and plastic badges for several decades now,” said R.K. Patel a senior police officer.
“If the new uniforms makes us stand out in the crowd, keeps us active with pleasant aroma and is yet very formal, then we are all for it.”
Personally, I’m of two minds regarding this change. On the one hand, the glow-in-the-dark factor sounds kind of futuristic (if a little gaudy), and makes me think of this guy. On the other hand, the floral and citrus scents sound a lot more like this guy. Honestly, you could offer that option to the flight attendants on Air India and they’d reject it on grounds of being too girlie.

What will the straight cops wear?
(I’m sorry. That’s 2 gay comments in a row. I was going to go with the “what will the white cops wear” but I just thought this fit better.)
